- Building the capacity of duty bearers in the Gender Inclusive and Human Rights Based Approaches (GIHRBA) to development
PDT in partnership with HEKS EPER is currently training duty bearers comprising councilors, chiefs and head of local government to understand and adopt a gender inclusive and rights based approach to development. Through this project, duty bearers from Mangwe and Bulilima have under-gone an intensive training on fundamentals of human rights, rights based approaches to development, gender and development as well GIHRBA tools such as the problem tree analysis, Framework Analysis and the Vulnerability Assessment. This is an ongoing exercise which seeks to strengthen good governance, democracy and civic engagement within communities
- Constitutional Awareness and Constitutionalism.
In partnership with HIVOS and the Zimbabwe Association for Community Radio Stations (ZACRAS) PDT uses off-air radio and Bulk SMS to share key messages about the Bill of Rights to help citizens understand and have the know-how on some of the fundamental rights contained in the Constitution. This project has seen communities engaging in dialogue regards selected Constitutional rights such as education, language and cultural rights as well as socio-economic rights.
- Community dialogue and Symposia
PDT hosts sustained community hall meetings aimed at giving grass root communities the platform to participate in pro poor, inclusive and gender sensitive policies. Some of the symposiums which PDT has successfully hosted include the Pro Poor Budgeting Symposium in Plumtree Town and Campfire Dialogue Platforms in Bulilima.
